Love is receiving an extra amount of attention today for Valentine's Day, and if you are like me, you know that really this day is no different from any other day. Love is ever-present and abundant and worthy of celebration and appreciation daily. Still, it is beautiful to have a calendar-marked day that generates a boost of collective focus on this ever-pulsing presence of Love.

If you know me, you know I love Love. I embody Love, I am Love. Love for myself is the foundation for my daily life and self-care practices. Self-Love is the core of my work and offerings for others that comes from years of devoting myself to inner work and my journey of awakening. Every aspect of my healing and expansion becomes a gift not only for myself, but those around me. In this letter, I offer a gift to you of what I feel to be a foundational stone for Self-Love.

About five years ago, I was in a deep fasting state alone in my desert home on a hot summer day. I was reclined on my couch, staring at the ceiling, sweating and contemplating matters of the heart. Someone from my past had mildly resurfaced and reactivated feelings of heartache that I had believed were healed, completed and behind me. As I struggled with the surprising emotions surfacing that seemed out of proportion for the present circumstances, I asked myself why would someone I believed I was ‘over’ activate so much in my heart? Why was I feeling so much over someone who I now saw so clearly as one who was not in alignment for me, not someone I cared to spend time with any longer? Hadn’t I done the work, learned the lessons already? What more is there to heal?

Breathing in the New Year ~ Self-Love + 2017 Reflections →

It is a New Year, and I send you my warmest blessings for your new beginning.
It is a New Year, and I spend my time looking back on the gifts of the last year.
It is a New Year, and I share my heart with you as we enter this new cycle together.

January is always a perfect time for looking inward, reflecting, assessing. And after such a potent year, it's especially important to reflect! I appreciate this time of evaluating my journey over the last year, and have allowed it to be my highest priority since the calendar turned to 2018. What felt like a much needed day to devote to the reflections of the last year has turned into weeks of continuously coming back to the many layers of this inner work. It seems all of January has been focused on this time of deep reflection. It has felt completely essential to honor this inward time in order to move forward with my work in the clearest, strongest way. So much experienced in 2017, so much to contemplate about what I learned and how I transformed, so much to say.

So much to say has been a mantra I hear myself reciting to people around me constantly. 2017 was the most expansive year of my life yet, and using my voice has been at the core of every significant aspect of my journey this year. And so I honor my journey by acknowledging and giving voice to what I have experienced at the end of the 2017 cycle, enabling myself to transition into 2018 in the best possible way.

The theme I set for 2017 was Expansion, and the many many pages I’ve written about it in itself reflects my expansion! I’d love to share some brief highlights with you here, serving to inspire as well as demystify much of the work I am involved in.

You Are The Light ~ Winter Solstice 2017

As Winter Solstice descends darkness upon us this week, I find myself reflecting on the time of the most expansive light: Summer Solstice. Let me take you with me, back in time, to where I was exactly 6 months ago...

In the Joshua Tree, California high desert, the temperature on June 21st, 2017 was set to reach 112 F, the highest high of summer yet. It fascinated me that the peak of our heat aligned with Summer Solstice, the day of the longest Sun, the most light, when the Sun dominates. The longest day of the year doesn't necessarily mean the hottest day, but this year Summer Solstice was radiating the energy of the Sun in every fiery way.

And it excited me. This translated to me as divine alignment, oh-so auspicious. In the days approaching the Solstice, the impending weather forecast had the community talking dreadfully about the collective desire to escape the rising heat. Yet here I was in contrast, excited, joyfully anticipatory of the incredibly hot day aligning with Summer Solstice, a holy marker of time and transition. Isn't it exciting?! was my repetitive response to anyone saying otherwise.

The day of Summer Solstice came, and indeed, I woke to an already hot pre-sunrise morning. I found myself instantly pondering what place might be even more hot on this day, where in the Northern hemisphere would be having an even hotter Summer Solstice than my Joshua Tree desert? And I received the answer immediately: Death Valley.

Upon hearing these words, my heart surged with energy, my love for the Sun expanding in this moment of realization that I wanted to be with the Sun on the longest day of the year in the hottest possible place. I wanted to be as close to the energy of the Sun as humanly possible. I wanted to celebrate the Sun and embrace my beloved on his reigning day of radiant glory.

Spontaneously, I packed my car for a solo road trip to Death Valley National Park, 4 hours to the north of Joshua Tree. The estimated high for Death Valley that day was to be 125 degrees, also a record high for that particular day. I'd never experienced heat so extreme, and I could not wait to know what that would feel like. I fantasized about the touch of the Sun’s most intense rays of light upon my skin and the energy I would receive on this potent holy day, in a place already so potent and intense.

I drove without the air conditioning on, windows down, acclimating myself to the increasing temperatures as I drove through the desert. I wondered who else might be wild enough to visit Death Valley National Park in this type of heat, and soon discovered upon my arrival, not many people at all. Aside from those who live and work there, and the handful of international travelers who didn’t necessarily elect to visit on the hottest day of summer, I felt I had the full expanse of the most astonishingly beautiful desert landscape to myself. I was bursting with joy. How grateful I was to have followed my guidance with such trust and knowing. The moment I stepped out of my car I was enveloped in the most passionately heated embrace of the energy of the Sun, the heat as dense as a human body. I could feel the Sun on my skin like fingers, arms, and breath.

I was in my element to the utmost degree, quite literally, and so joyfully I dove into the ocean of heat waves and celebrated the life the Sun gives this planet, letting it carry me where it wanted me to flow. 

After 5 hours of dancing alone with the Sun, smiling, laughing, and sweating, exploring sand dunes and rainbow rock mountains and salt flats with generous amounts of water and shade breaks, the Sun began to descend and I stayed until the last lingering light. I left Death Valley driving in the dark, fully lit up with the radiance of the Solstice Sun. I came back to Joshua Tree quite late, a bright light in the dark night, blessed with the radiant cosmic energies of the day. I came back cleared, cleansed, and charged. I came back ecstatic, glowing with the lasting embrace of my beloved Sun pulsing throughout my skin, my veins, my heart.

Yes, 125 F degrees in Death Valley was indeed a fire initiation. It was absolutely blazing hot and not for the faint of heart or pale of skin. However, while I was in it I couldn’t help thinking that it didn’t really feel that hot. I was aware that it would’ve been a much different experience if I had resisted the heat. If my intention was to escape the heat, or if the thought of heat was associated with being miserable, I would’ve come home sunburnt, parched, exhausted, depleted. Where it might’ve been a circumstance of challenge and resistance, with an open heart and a shift in perspective, my energy came into alignment with the divine possibilities available to me. And I received divine blessings because of this. I experienced harmony, joy, and ecstasy alone in the desert by embracing an extreme and intense experience.

Embrace what is, align with the beauty of the present moment.

While the holy light of the Summer Solstice Sun indeed blessed me and still stays with me through these darker, colder days, being touched by this light illuminated that which already exists within me. The infinite light of Source was radiating within me before the drive to Death Valley. It was with me before I moved to the desert 7 years ago. It has always been with me, but I didn’t know that for so much of my life. I awoke to my light through the guidance of my intuition, the desert, and the divine, and now consciously tend to this inner light every day in the desert. I hold the Sun with awareness that it is a reflection of that which dwells within me:  The most luminous divine golden light that is always shining.

This light is always there, and it dwells within each and every one of us. Though, it certainly isn’t necessary to expose yourself to extreme heat and Sun to connect with your own inner light! Remind yourself of your own radiant inner light simply gazing upon a candle flame. See the flame and know what you are witnessing shines ten thousand times more luminous and brightly within you, right here, right now.

See your light. Feel your light. Embody your light.

Driving to Death Valley on Summer Solstice was a divine pull to be totally immersed by the light that exists within each and every one of us, the light that connects us to Source, the light that unites us all as One. The Sun does not hide its light, but we do. The Sun does not dim its radiance, but we do. The Sun does not forget its own divinity, but we do. The Sun shines always, no matter the time of day, no matter the weather, no matter the season. The Sun shines always, and beloved, so do you.

You are the light. I see it in your eyes, in your smile, in your heart. I feel it in your words, your touch. I hear it in your laughter, your voice. I know it by your energy, your beauty. Even if you do not see it, beloved, I see it in you.And I want you to see it for yourself, because this is the way we shine our brightest possible light.

If each of us walking upon this planet remembered the true divine light we always carry within us, Earth would be as illuminated as our Sun itself.

This Winter Solstice, let us remember the divine light within. Let us shine our light for all the world to see and feel. Let each of us be a luminous blessing to this world.
 

Gathering Lights

Thursday, December 21st, is Winter Solstice, the shortest, darkest day of the year for the Northern Hemisphere. It is a potent portal for releasing that which no longer serves, and welcoming the light onto what you want to shine brightly in your life moving forward. This holy day is a powerful opportunity to embrace the darkness, the stillness, the silence, and celebrate the light within.

Let us gather in the name of release, healing, and peace. Let us gather to shine our lights together brightly for the benefit of the whole world. Together, we will call in the light, blessing the world with our radiant divine love.

So easily during this time of year we can completely lose sight of our light, and slip into the darkness in such a way that it feels impossible to know there is an infinite source of light within that is always right there, just waiting to be seen. Shine your light with the other lights around you this Solstice, join together with your beloved friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, and community. Be the source of light that reminds others of the light they also carry.

May you be the light that inspires others to see their own luminescence.

I hope this finds you well! I am writing to you now after a long online pause, all the while directing my energy towards real-time offerings and studies and community. Perhaps you've also been experiencing the epically heightened energy of this last year, how quickly new things are coming along the path as the old falls away, how often things are changing, and how much there is to share continuously. While the list of updates is always growing, I’m now getting the message to share at least what’s happening in the present time to de-mystify any question marks about my whereabouts these days (still rooted in the Joshua Tree desert!) and to share about my growing offerings. 

In a future letter, I will expand on the incredible, unexpected places my journey has taken me in this last year. So much has evolved, and the path I am on is clearer and brighter than ever, while still revealing itself to me. In 2017, I have expanded upon my spiritual practices like never before, I've grown in my Oracle Priestess role, I’ve been initiated as a teacher, I’ve been holding sacred space for my community on a regular basis, my in-person sacred offerings have grown, and most notably, my inner peace and joy has flourished. I wake every morning with a smile on my face, grateful for the infinite possibilities each day brings. 

While so much has changed, a few foundational pieces are always rock-solid in my daily life: My spiritual practice, my juicing + high vibrational food choices, my connection to nature, my devotion to being in radiant service to the world, and my love for myself.

This has indeed been quite a year for us individually and globally, and the biggest teaching I have received during this time is that regardless of the external circumstances and events around us, the one thing we have control over is how we respond. And it is through the greatest force in existence, Love, that we collectively generate the greatest possible response to bring forth healing and peace for the world.

The love that radiates from within me is the greatest gift I can give myself. And self-love is the greatest gift I can give the world, for it radiates outward and blesses everyone and everything. We draw upon the greatest possible strength, power, and healing from the foundation of our own self-love.

Love for myself is at the core of every choice I make every day, and it can be for you as well.

The Golden Oracle: A Divine Message of Love

~~~It is time to speak our voices in the name of Divine Love~~~

Beloveds,

Did you see the Sun rise today? Our generous Sun, that one that rises every day, whose lights touches everything. The Sun that allows us to see. Perhaps you missed seeing it rise in the East, and perhaps you missed seeing it descend in the West, but you notice the darkness when it is gone. 

Perhaps you have noticed a lot of lives have been in deep transformation. If not yourself, you surely know several people who have experienced dramatic life shifts in this last year. We are in a powerful season of transformation, and presently, what has been expressed in our own individual lives is now being expressed globally. Whether or not you have personally had a major life shift recently, we are now collectively experiencing a massive change together as a result of the election. Our individual experiences are now united as We. 

The days are suddenly different. 

And as goes with change, it doesn’t feel good. It is uncomfortable, it is unfamiliar. We are clinging to what we knew from before. Holding on to what no longer is, making the process all the more painful. And we are projecting, creating binds of fear that shorten our breath and bring us to our knees as we haunt ourselves with ideas of what life will look like moving forward with this new administration. 

And we turn on one another. We blame the ones who don’t see, who didn’t vote, who are closed. We are slipping into the greatest divide our country has known. We allow this election to poison our relationships with others. We feed our toxic fear. We fall into the darkness of the widening fracture in the earth that separates us. 

This was a change we thought we had a choice in making, but with the players at hand, we are in surrender to something bigger at hand. Most of us didn’t see this coming, though when you step back to look at the bigger picture, we begin to realize the situation is so outrageous, so extreme, so wild, that something bigger at work must be at hand. Something that few of us can make sense of right now, and only by trusting the greater good is at work, can we proceed with power in this chosen reality. 

Chosen. Because we chose this, whether we care to believe it or not. The same way we choose the lives we are born into and are dealt cards which we are designed to overcome for our own personal evolution, the results of this election was something we collectively chose regardless of who we consciously voted for. For we need this president to evolve as a planet. We chose to be here on this planet during the time of this Trump presidency. We are needed during this time of great planetary awakening.

We are awakening to this chosen reality and what it represents: The end of patriarchy. We are in a time of the Divine Feminine coming back into power, and in order for us to reach this place, we must release what no longer serves us. We are being initiated into this new time, and for our planet to birth this time of Divine Feminine consciousness, we must experience death. Together, we are in a global journey descending into the Underworld. 

This Trump presidency is death. This is the last leg of a corrupt patriarchy that has silenced and disempowered women for far too long. It is necessary for us to take this journey in order for the Divine Feminine to emerge with power like never before. This is the end of Patriarchy. Together we tread through the dark passageway of shadow initiations, and committed to this path, together we emerge back into the light, birthed into new planetary consciousness. 

This is what will happen as a result of this election.

We recognize that the grotesque nature of our new president as a powerful sign that the old paradigm patriarchy is breaking down. We see that this is the last ditch effort to hold onto the power they know they are losing by any means necessary. We know this is the last time this will happen, and the collapse is coming soon, making way for the New Way.

We recognize that the most powerful force on the planet was not present during the election: Love. How many votes were cast out of fear? There was no foundation of love to carry Hillary into victory. We see now that electing a president based on fear only for us to slip back into a complacent life again does not create the change so direly needed on this planet. It is Trump who is the catalyst for great change. It is Trump who activates an impassioned global leadership of the Divine Feminine to rise up into power. It is Trump, the one who represents all of the mass destruction during this time of an imbalanced, corrupt patriarchy. This is what we need to happen for women to truly rise up and step into power, voices heard in unity. 

We feel this loss of love in our government. We feel this loss of love between one another. We feel this loss of love for our future. 

We feel the great need to heal this loss, and to heal our hearts. We feel the great need to join together as a United Global Community, so that we may embark on this journey with strength and power. We feel the great need to take the first step towards embracing this journey towards higher planetary consciousness. 

How do we do this? 

It begins with love. 

It continues with love.

It ends with love.

It begins again with love.

Our voices in unity, lovingly declare:

We release anger toward one another, we bridge our divide with love. We offer compassion to the ones we don’t agree with, the ones who hold opinions so differently from our own. We accept that this election campaign was a monstrous creation filled with manipulation and mind control that so many are susceptible to. We offer loving compassion to the ones who are powerless to the machine.

We embrace that all of our hearts are pure.

We release fear towards the Trump administration. We acknowledge that this is divinely orchestrated, and that no matter how challenging it is to understand, we accept this is in the name of the highest good for our planetary evolution.

We embrace that Trump is our catalyst to create true change for the highest good. We embrace that this opportunity for global change would not have been possible otherwise. We embrace that Trump needed to win the election for our planetary evolution. 

We release resistance. We embrace this great wave of change and ride with it, surrendering all that we do not understand about the past and do not know of the future. We remain in the present moment.

We embrace that this is the golden opportunity for the Divine Feminine to rise up, in balance with the Divine Masculine. We are grateful for what Hillary showed the world: That we are ready for a female leader to make radical changes in this world. We accept that Hillary is not the one to lead us forward, we accept that there is a greater feminine force rising.

We release this broken political system. We invite the New Way to rise up. We call in a total reformation in government and leadership.

We embrace that in order for a Divine Feminine leadership force to rise up, we need an old paradigm patriarchal figure to be brought into power, to activate the global community of female leaders to create the New Way. We understand that were Hillary to have won the election, all that is broken in our corrupt government and our world would’ve remained so. We embrace that this election is our golden opportunity to rise up and activate a Divine Feminine global leadership. We call forth these leaders to come into loving action now.

We release self-victimization. We honor our own sovereign power. We accept that no matter who is in office, we are in control of our own happiness. We will no longer give our power away to these leaders. We accept that we are responsible for our own personal happiness. 

We embrace our global community. We recognize that all nations are one, all people are our relations, all life on this planet is a unique piece of our greater whole. We see that it is only by joining together in the name of love that we are able to move into higher planetary consciousness.

We release fighting in all forms. We release the waging of war within our relationships and our countries. We recognize our voices are truly heard when action is founded on love. We understand that anger and fighting widens the divide. We recognize it no longer serves to fight for our lives, moving forward we love for our lives.

We embrace our voices. We recognize the power and beauty of each of our unique voices, and that by using them collectively in the name of love, we create an empowered global community that calls for the New Way. We call forth a symphony of voices to continue to speak out in the name of Divine Love for All. 

We release the reality of fear. We embrace the reality of love.

We embrace this journey into the Underworld. We embrace the unknown. We embrace trust. We embrace the New Way. 

We embrace passionate self-love, knowing that love for ourselves is the foundation for loving unconditionally.

We embrace unconditional love for All That Is.

We declare our love for life is so vast and great that this reality of fear can no longer exist. This fear-based reality can no longer exist because we love so much, because we love ourselves so much, that this force of love becomes so powerful it transmutes all negativity into beauty. It is our collective love that will Triumph during this time of great transformation.

We send our collective love to Trump and his administration. We are grateful for the great opportunity his presidency gives the world for creating planetary change for the highest good of all.

And so it is lovingly declared.

There is a poem waiting to be written, it is hidden within the shadows in each of our hearts. Each of us carries a different word of this poem, and it is by connecting with one another, communicating, and sharing our hearts that we discover what each unique word we carry within us, that once brought out of the darkness into the light, becomes an integral illuminated piece to the greater poem. This poem can only be written by opening our hearts with one another. Let us write this poem together. We will sing this poem into being, dancing from dawn into the dark night for all of the universe to bear witness to our joy in having discovered the beauty in the shadows. 

And so, beloveds, we reach out to one another, we connect with one another. We gather, we create, we share, we cry, we dream, together. We hold one another. We sit in silence together. We create nourishing meals to enjoy together. We drink tea together. We walk in nature together. We laugh, and we laugh, and we laugh. 

We stay in present time. 

With your hand to your heart, breathe in deeply. The Divine Love that dwells within you is always there. Feel the vibration of your beating heart. Feel the vibration of all the hearts on the planet, beating together. We are a global family. We connect with one another by tuning into our hearts, and feeling the love we have for ourselves. 

Everyday, the Sun rises, the plants grow, and the birds sing. Everyday, we smile at one another, we create new visions, and we share our hearts. Everyday, we embrace the richness of this beautiful existence. 

This is how we live in the reality of love. Everyday, we are bathed in the light of the rising Sun after embracing the dark of the night. The light of the Sun always comes again. 

May we all stand together tomorrow to watch the Sun rise, singing our songs of love for this beautiful world.

Releasing Water in the Desert

The creation of Water in the Desert, my first book, was truly a dream come true for me. I have always believed my photos would be best communicated through the book format. I was always intrigued by the possibilities of how my photos relate with each other, how they sit alongside one another. What stories would they tell together, I often wondered. In the book, the images come together in conversation, relating to each other, finding their connections. While laying out the book, I would witness how certain photos would find each other, moments that were captured long ago effortlessly find comfort and strength in the company of a more recent experience. The connections between the photos are endless, and it was an incredible experience to sit with thousands of my images and find the conversation that was happening in the present moment- a conversation that wanted to be shared on a large scale.

It has always been my dream for someone to hold a book of my photos, and to be able to sit with it quietly, becoming absorbed in the connections within the images and finding her or his own connection within it as well. It's a much different experience from focusing on a single image standing alone in a different context. It is the sacred intimacy and quietness of my experiences that I long to communicate with others, I want others to feel the same peace and connection I feel when I am in the sacred process of creation. I believe this is most effectively communicated through the intimate time spent sitting with a book. The stillness and sacredness of one's meditation can touch the lives of others, I have learned. It is my hope that each individual who holds my book and spends time with it, is touched by the light and love that I experienced not only when the images were first captured, but while I was making the book.

The book-making ritual was truly a ceremonial experience for me. I devoted my life to its creation for two months, and let my entire home evolve into a temple dedicated to the creation of Water in the Desert. It was my every waking moment, my nourishment, my meditation, my pulse, my light. It was a sacred, transformative journey, and it took me to places I was unprepared for. I birthed this book with the most sacred of intentions, light and love woven into each and every page. Now that it is complete, I am forever changed. It is an honor to offer a tangible object to the world that truly holds my heart and spirit.

I will be forever grateful for my loving friend Molly Spaulding, who immediately responded to my vision for the book and did everything she could to make it possible, in both energetic and physical realms. I am so grateful for the great technical layout assistance of dear friend Toby Verhines, and to Paper Chase Press for their exquisite printing and binding. The book-making process was held in so much love, I felt truly blessed by all of the loving hands, eyes, and minds that made it possible. My gratitude is infinite. 

I am ever grateful for the support and love from you- my beloved friends and family and supporters. Thank you for always believing in my journey. Though my photographs are taken in solitude and represent a sacred time of connection and meditation, they would not be seen without the support of your love. Thank you for everything you have given me and have made possible by being a blessing in my life.

And with that, I have released Water in the Desert.
