Every 18 months, Venus begins a rare retrograde cycle - a mythic, transformative portal for turning inward and examining the Venusian territories of love, relationship, beauty, creativity, money, desire, worth and value.
Since 2020, I have guided DESCENT INTO TRUTH with every Venus Retrograde cycle.
This October marks the fifth time I will guide this 43-day initiation through the Underworld.
Now, the gates are opening again.
For 43 days, we will follow Venus on her mythic journey into the Underworld, guided by the oldest recorded story of the descent of the Goddess: The Descent of Inanna.
Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, willingly enters the Great Below and passes through seven gates. At every gate, something is removed. Piece by piece, she is stripped of what she has carried until she stands naked before the truth.
This is the journey at the heart of DESCENT INTO TRUTH.
Over seven weeks, you will cross these seven gates, journeying deeper beneath the surface of your life to discover what is ready to be revealed, released, reclaimed and transformed.

THE 7 GATES OF THE UNDERWORLD
At the center of DESCENT INTO TRUTH are seven guided shamanic journeys into the Underworld, following the ancient path of Inanna through each of the seven gates.
Every Friday, we gather in ceremony and cross the next gate together.
Through guided shamanic journey, you will descend into your own inner landscape to encounter what is waiting beneath the surface - to explore the shadows, meet your fears, receive what wants to be revealed and retrieve the wisdom hidden within.
In the ancient myth, Inanna must remove something at every gate as she makes her way deeper into the Great Below.
We follow this same initiatory path.
Week by week, gate by gate, you are invited to examine what you are carrying that may no longer belong with you: beliefs, attachments, identities, protections, patterns and stories that stand between you and your truth.
At each gate, something is stripped from us that is false.
We become naked, and ultimately find strength within this vulnerability.
Between each weekly initiation, the journey continues through your chosen daily self-love and creative practice, shadow exploration, ritual, reflection and daily channeled messages from Inanna herself.
After passing through the seven gates, you arrive at the deepest point of the journey -stripped of false beliefs, face-to-face with what is true, and ready for the transformation that happens there.
But we don't stay stuck in the Underworld.
The purpose of the descent is to meet what has been hidden in the shadows, retrieve the gold within it, and bring what you discover back into your life.
The descent prepares the way for the ascent - and your rebirth in truth.
WHY VENUS RETROGRADE?
Every 18 months, Venus disappears from the western sky as the Evening Star, making her descent through the Underworld before eventually rising again as the Morning Star.
DESCENT INTO TRUTH opens only during this rare Venus Retrograde cycle.
Venus Retrograde calls us inward to review the matters of the heart and what we value - love, relationship, worth, desire, beauty, creativity, money and receiving.
For these 43 days, we consciously move with Venus, allowing the retrograde to illuminate what is asking to be examined, reclaimed and transformed within our own hearts.
We begin our descent on October 2, as Venus stations retrograde, and complete our journey on November 13, as Venus stations direct.
The next Venus Retrograde will not arrive for another 18 months.

I, MARMORIA RAM, have been guiding women through DESCENT INTO TRUTH since 2020, opening this initiation with every Venus Retrograde cycle.
The origins of this work were forged through my own relationship with descent in the desert, where I first awakened to the mythology of Venus Retrograde in 2016. 43 days is the exact length of Venus’ retrograde for this cycle. By committing to the journey for 43 days, you are setting yourself up to move through the inevitable discomforts, doubts, fears, and triggers that will arise along the way. There is a divine design to the 40+ day cycle. Yogic science and divine intelligence shows that 40+ days of exposing ourselves to a repetitive experience impacts us on a cellular level. By the time you reach 40 days, next-level transformation takes place. Old habits and patterns have fallen away, and new patterns of higher consciousness have been created.

WHO IS INANNA?
Inanna is a goddess of fertility, love, beauty, and so much more.
Venus is the goddess Inanna in the sky.
Inanna is the Queen of Heaven and Earth in ancient Sumer who surrenders her life of beauty and luxury to enter the Underworld where she ultimately undergoes a death/rebirth and re-emerges in greater power, wisdom, and truth of who she is. She comes back empowered with greater gifts to share with her people and her land. The Descent of Inanna is part of a hymn carved into clay tablets from around the third millennium BC that is as relevant to our modern day reality as much as it was in ancient times. She is said to be the first recorded goddess in history and hers is the oldest known myth of the descent of the Goddess.
Venus’ Retrograde cycle of departing the sky as the Evening Star on the Western horizon and vanishing from our view is Inanna’s descent into the Underworld. When Venus appears again, she is re-birthed as the Morning Star on the Eastern horizon, shining new light after her journey of transformation.
